Fifteen years managing Calvo Mackenna Children’s Hospital; progress and remaining challenges

Abstract

Luis Calvo Mackenna Hospital, member of Metropolitan East Health Network, is a national reference center for pediatrics. It has begun a process of change which by 2008 had completed 15 years. Domestic policies and leadership have been consistent and continuous during this period. Important advances have been achieved, but there are also many pending issues. This paper describes the most important events and the main challenges for the future.
